What Makes Our Training Unique? Why Choose Capability for Change?

Written by Melanie Franklin

I’m so proud of the training I provide. It’s my passion to transfer my knowledge and experience to you, to reduce your stress at work.

I’m giving you solutions, skills, examples and ideas to help you continually innovate, changing how you work by applying your own improvement ideas and by responding to the transformations happening throughout your organisation.

What makes our change management training unique is a product of that passion. I believe it, because what makes us unique takes a lot of effort. We do the hard stuff, not just the easy stuff.

Key takeaways:

  • We teach you “how” to actually do it, not just “what” you need to do
  • You leave with practical techniques and activities you can use immediately
  • We’re continually investing in new, up-to-date educational content and
  • You can use me as your personal management consultancy
  • Your learning doesn’t stop when the course ends
  • You join a community of nearly 6,000 people

We Teach “How”, Not Just “What”

All our change management training covers the how to do something, not just the what you should do.

If you want to read a list of instructions, that’s great. I can recommend books. But if you genuinely want to build your skills and learn how to do something, our courses are full of new ideas.

How is so much harder to develop than what. Because it takes experience. It takes a willingness to experiment, take risks, try things out. And capture what works and what doesn’t work. And be willing to accept that experimenting is worth it, because not everything always works out.

Our training embodies the values that are core to change management: growth mindset, curiosity, flexibility. A willingness to ask “How else can we do something? What else could we do? Who else could we be working with?”

You Leave with Practical Activities You Can Use Immediately

We make sure that from every training course you walk away with practical activities that you can apply immediately when you return to work. Because you have those techniques explained to you. You’ve had a chance to practise them. You’ve discussed your results. You’ve discussed your own context and the changes you’re making at work, and how you might tweak these techniques to better reflect your own needs.

During the course, you’ve had the chance to hear other people’s experiences, their changes, and how they’re thinking of using these techniques. The different problems they’re planning to solve. You recognise the similarities with your own situation.

We Keep Investing in New Change Management Content

Change keeps changing, so we keep investing in our intellectual property. We develop new techniques every single week. We sit down with clients. We work out new answers for their problems. We try them out with other clients. I pass them through focus groups and the global group of change practitioners, change managers, heads of change management in my network to get their feedback.

All this activity runs parallel to training our courses. We feed the best ideas into our courses.

I never have the easy job of training the same course I trained last month, because since then new techniques have been added. I’ve had to rehearse those and tweak the timing of the course to make sure I can fit it all in. But I do it because I know that you need relevance. I need to train you in things that work now, but also that will work in the future.

Use Me as Your Personal Management Consultancy

Our change management training is practical, so during the course you can use me as your personal management consultancy. You can practise things. You can ask me lots of questions. I will give you examples from lots of different types of changes from around the world, in lots of different industries.

I will back up what I say with research, including the research that Capability for Change sponsors—the Annual Change Capability Survey—and the analysis that comes from that.

Your Learning Doesn’t Stop When the Course Ends

Your training doesn’t end with the course, because we provide you with access to Changeability Pro, which is a change management training and coaching platform where you can enter your situations and it will recommend relevant techniques for you to try.

Every technique is explained via video, and there are templates and checklists and example content to help you use the technique in practise. So we still remain with you for as long as you want us.

You Join a Community of Change Management Experts

You’re part of a community. I used to chair the Change Management Institute with my colleague Gillian Perry. After six years, I built a new community—the Change Capability Community—which has nearly 6,000 members.

We run free events where you can join in. Every couple of weeks you can drop in to a free virtual coaching session. You can raise your own issues and put me on the spot and see if I can find the answer. Or you can just listen in as I do the same for others. Every few months there is a “deep dive” session where we come together for a couple of hours to solve a common change management problem. We work in small groups so everyone can network and make new friends and we share our ideas in full group discussions so we can learn from each other.

Not only do you get the latest thinking in change management, but you’ve got a safe space to share your experiences, raise your questions, swap stories, hear new examples. And feel the support from knowing you’re not alone. There are lots of other people who are trying to make change happen in their organisations, and I’m supporting them too.

Why This Matters for Your Career

If you want to know how to manage change at work—not just understand the theory, but actually do it—this training is a smart move.

Because you’re not just learning. You’re practising. You’re getting feedback. You’re hearing how others are tackling similar challenges. You’re building a toolkit of techniques that work in the real world. You’re joining a community that will support you long after the course finishes.

And you’re learning from someone who’s been doing this for 30 years, who’s still learning, who’s still developing new techniques every week, and who genuinely cares about reducing your stress at work.

That’s what makes our training different. That’s what makes it worth your time and investment.
