In compiling this report, we have compared the responses over the last three years (October 2022; 2023 and 2024) and compared the data that assess similar issues, including resources, skills and the role of senior leaders.
This has helped us to identify a core concern, which is that change management is still not viewed as a valuable service to the business and is not seen as an essential management practice. Despite its potential to drive organisational success, change management is often viewed as optional, relegated to project management, or sidelined during economic constraints. We believe that if this value existed in the minds of senior leaders, so many of the scores would be higher than 50%.
The lack of value ascribed to change management is not merely a perception problem; it stems from a lack of clear evidence and communication about its role in delivering business outcomes. By aligning change management practices with commercial value, fostering leadership engagement, and creating scalable tools, organizations can reposition change management as an indispensable service.
